Ode to Vincent van Gogh
The artist Daan Roosegaarde developed this 600 metre cycle path that contains thousands of twinkling coloured stones. The stones are charged by daylight and display fragments of the famous Starry Night painting by Van Gogh. This form of ‘techno poetics’ is the contemporary artist’s ode to the old Master.
Discover Van Gogh’s world
The cycle path can be found in the location where Van Gogh was inspired and made a big part of his oeuvre. Not only did he paint his first masterpiece The Potato Eaters here; he also made paintings of the Opwettense Watermolen and Collse Watermolen. The unique cycle path runs right between these two windmills.
Follow the Van Gogh cycle route
If you visit Eindhoven or its surroundings, we highly recommend taking a bicycle ride in the evening. The path is located between Nuenen and Eindhoven and is part of the Van Gogh cycle route through Nuenen that interconnects many sites from the painter’s life. You will learn a lot about his life and work as well as experiencing the magic of this bicycle ride.
Accessibility
You can rent a bicycle to discover the beautiful route. Or you can reach the cycle path by car or public transportation. Board bus 6 at Eindhoven Station and get off at the ‘Koudenhoven’ stop (the path is about 600 metres on foot). You can park your car at the carpooling site on the junction of Wolvendijk and A270 motorway.
