Highlights

Some of the historic highlights of the city are De Peperbus, Grote Kerk (great church), Sassenpoort (old city gate), Dominicanenklooster (Dominican monastery), and a part of the 15th century city wall that has been preserved. For shopping, there is a fantastic city center with plenty of options, lunchrooms and great restaurants. Sassenstraat is among the top 10 shopping streets in the Netherlands. The extraordinary book shop Waanders In de Broeren and authentic Zwolse Balletjeshuis are definitely must-see venues. Dinoland is a fantastic attraction for children. With lots of greenery and beautiful surroundings, Zwolle is the perfect city for boat tours, walks, bicycle rides, or a relaxing day at one of the parks. In the winter months, enjoy the Ice Sculpture Festival while in summer, the Street Festival and flavorful Chef’s Revolution event are highly recommended.

Public transport

Zwolle is easily accessible as an important hub with railway connections to the rest of the Netherlands. From the train station, it is just a ten-minute walk to the city center. Or grab a bicycle taxi if you don’t feel like walking.

By car

Zwolle has ample parking facilities, but cars are not welcome in most of the inner city. Follow the P-route signs to one of the underground car parks.

Transport in Nederland

Distances within Holland are easily bridged. Any location you might want to visit can be reached within three hours. The train, bus and tram will taken you pretty much anywhere you want to go. You can also explore Holland by bicycle. With over 32,000 kilometers worth of bicycle paths, Holland is a real cycling country with many fantastic cycling routes.
